Born in London 1951, Charlotte Knox trained at Brighton Polytechnic, Sussex 1970-71, The Ruskin School of Fine Art and Drawing, Oxford 1971-74 and St. Martin's School of Art, London 1974-75. Since leaving college she has worked as a freelance illustrator and painter. She is married to Joe Earle, Director of the Japan Society Gallery, New York and they have been living in Manhattan since 2007. They have two sons, Leo and Martin.
